About Murphy

Dr. Murphy is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with advanced training in interventional pain management and musculoskeletal medicine.  He is seeing patients at the Wesley Chapel, Riverview and Carrollwood locations.  He has a special interest in utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to pain management in order to return patients to their highest level of activity possible. 

He joins Florida Pain Medicine after completing an internship in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine at Orthopedic and Spine Specialists in York, PA where he became proficient in a variety of ultrasound and x-ray guided injections, electrodiagnostics, and served as team physician for a local high school.  Prior to his fellowship, he completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he was elected by the faculty and his peers as Chief Resident in 2015-2016.  He was awarded the Hopkins Healer award in 2014 which is presented to a resident who demonstrates compassion and professionalism towards patients.  

He graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and completed his medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. This was followed by a traditional osteopathic rotating internship at St. Petersburg General Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.  

Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, running and biking, fishing and rooting for his beloved New York Jets and Liverpool F.C.
