mild® Procedure

What is the mild® Procedure? The mild® Procedure, an FDA-cleared minimally invasive treatment, targets a significant underlying cause of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). LSS primarily results from age-related degeneration, leading to narrowing of the lower spinal canal. This narrowing causes symptoms like pain, numbness, tingling, or heaviness in the lower back, legs, or buttocks. The mild® Procedure addresses this by removing excess, thickened ligament tissue, thereby restoring space in the spinal canal and alleviating pressure on the spinal nerves.

Why consider mild® as an early treatment option? When conservative therapies (such as physical therapy, pain medication, and chiropractic treatments) fail to provide sufficient relief, mild® offers an alternative. This outpatient procedure, performed through a single, tiny incision (smaller than a baby aspirin at 5.1 mm), is covered by Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans nationwide.

What are the potential benefits of the mild® Procedure? mild® may help patients diagnosed with LSS stand longer and walk farther with reduced pain. By addressing the root cause of LSS symptoms in a minimally invasive manner, mild® offers several benefits:

  1. Outpatient Procedure: Typically completed in less than 1 hour.
  2. Quick Recovery: Patients usually resume normal activities within 24 hours without restrictions.
  3. No General Anesthesia or Implants: The procedure requires neither general anesthesia nor implants.
  4. Low Complication Risk, High Efficacy: Clinical studies demonstrate its safety and effectiveness

Does the mild® Procedure involve general anesthesia? No, the mild® Procedure takes place in an outpatient setting and does not necessitate general anesthesia. Instead, it is typically performed using local anesthetic and light sedation.

How long does the mild® Procedure take? mild® is a brief outpatient procedure, typically completed in less than one hour. Most patients can return home shortly after the procedure.
